Biography
Born in Milan on a quiet winter's day. Elsewhere in the world, Glenn Gould publishes the "Goldberg Variations", Thelonious Monk is about to record "Brilliant Corners", John Cage composes "Radio Music". Soon Ornette Coleman will lose his job as an elevator boy in a department store. He's been playing his plastic saxophone for two years and there are still four to go before "Free Jazz". MF hardly remembers those days. Would catch up later on. In the late fall of 1968 listening to the radio from the back seat of his father’s car, he is confirmed that "Hey Jude" is for another week at the lead of the "Hit Parade". That single and that group from Liverpool will mark his existence. He quickly learns to play the guitar. In the mid 70s he’s gifted the book "Jazz" by Arrigo Polillo. It’ll be the beginning of the end. Since then he has played and recorded with groups and musicians such as Gruppo Contemporaneo, Takla Makan, Circadiana, Mondo Ra, Blast Unit Orchestra, M.M.&T., CrowdofOne, Topolovska Minimalna Orchestra, Rocket No. 9, Artchipel Orchestra, Barre Phillips, Filippo Monico, Edoardo Ricci, Guido Mazzon, Gaetano Liguori, Roberto Del Piano, Martin Mayes, Wolfgang Fuchs, Peter Kowald, Fabrizio Spera, Alberto Braida, Peeter Uuskyla, Alessandro Bosetti, Angelo Contini, Peter Friis Nielsen, Biggi Vinkeloe, Giancarlo Locatelli, Ab Baars, Walter Prati, Elliott Sharp, Alberto Tacchini, Tito Mangialajo Rantzer, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Steve Piccolo, Gak Sato, Matteo Pennese, Cristiano Calcagnile, Xabier Iriondo, Bob Marsh, Stefano Giust, Antonio Della Marina, Evan Parker, Luca Tilli, Claude Parle, Dan Warburton, John Hughes, Heiner Metzger, Nicolas Wiese, Gianni Mimmo, Marcello Magliocchi, Matthias Boss and many others. He has played in several festivals like Clusone, Sant’Arcangelo, Festivaletteratura, Controindicazioni Roma, Europa Jazz Noci, Fringes, Pulsi, Ah Um, Berlin Jazz, Locarno, Senza parole, Acusmatiq, Invasioni Visive, Stazione di Topolò / Postaja Topolove, Electronika, ContemporaneaMente, Le Rotonde de Choc (Paris), Milano Film Festival, Memories Design, Quiet Cue (Berlin), Bild-Wort-Ton (Hamburg), Elb Jazz Festival (Hamburg), ecc. He plays various saxophones and live electronics. He composes electroacoustic music. He has played with lots of musicians and has recorded several discs. Created groups, orchestras and associations. He improvises, writes music for the theater, documentaries and installations. He teaches, conducts workshops and master classes on improvisation and writing.
